Who We Are
Compost Clubhouse is a collective of kids, advocates, service providers, city leaders and schools in Central Ohio. We empower kids and their communities to divert food scraps and other compostable waste from our landfills. Our weekly curbside pickup is a simple solution for all individuals and families to contribute to the critical issue of planet warming gases emitted into our environment and overcrowding of landfills.
Composting: The act of collecting organic waste, such as food scraps, and storing it under conditions designed to help it break down naturally.
What can be composted?
Fruit and vegetable scraps
Eggshells
Coffee grounds and filters
Meat, fish, and bones
Paper towels and tissues
And so much more!
Benefits of Composting
Easy and Convenient
Our simple method of collecting food scraps curbside from our communities allows professionals to convert them naturally into a rich soil amendment and conditioner. You will have less trash and therefore save on trash bags and trips to the trash receptacle which means you will have fewer stinky trash bags in your kitchen.
Less Food in Landfills
It feels good to be part of a community effort focusing on the bigger picture. 15% of what is in the Franklin County landfill is food waste and it takes up valuable space. Your leftovers and food scraps will not be wasted, instead, will be repurposed into rich soil!
Improves Soil Health
Composting encourages the production of beneficial bacteria and fungi that break down organic matter to create humus, a rich nutrient-filled material. The availability of compost reduces the need for chemical fertilizers and deters garden pests. Beyond the important micronutrients that compost offers, it also acts as a natural, slow-release garden fertilizer and natural pesticide.
Benefits the Environment
Composting lowers the amount of warming gases created by organic material in our landfills. The EPA estimates that landfills are the single biggest emitters of toxic methane gases.

Really, we can’t emphasize enough the convenience factor. When composting is just as easy (if not easier) than throwing something in the trash, there is absolutely no excuse not to do so.
I compost because it helps me feel empowered to make a difference in the world. Composting is such a small act but it has a profound effect
I grew up on a farm and everything we didn’t eat was either given to the animals or put back in the soil. It always felt wasteful to me to throw food in the garbage.
I cannot believe how light our regular trash bag is each week – the amount of compostable waste in our household was weighing it down and obviously diverting way too much to the landfill.
